Citizen Science
Citizen Science is the engagement of the public providing scientific research as non-scientist. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) defines citizen science as the public participating voluntarily in the scientific process to address real-world problems.
NOAA Citizen Science and Crowdsourcing
NOAA's Office of Education participates with Citizen Science by assisting with the management of community practice, coordinating a catalog of 60 projects within the Citizen Science.gov Catalog, and representing the agency in broader efforts. The NOAA citizen science project engaged over 550,000 participants.
